I've been lurking on the forums for a few weeks now reading and soaking up all the info I can. I used to hike and backpack as a younger man but have basically given it up for the last 15 years mostly because of young kids and a wife that hates the outdoors. I am looking at getting back into ultralight backpacking and had found hammock camping in a previous stint of research. As I get closer to getting my gear assembled I've been amazed by how warm and welcoming the community on HF is. I'm a DIYer/Hacker at heart and I'm blown away at how welcoming this community is to people making their own gear. My fist sewing project will be a backpack then I'm moving onto a hammock and a tarp. I look forward to you help and feedback as I go along and want to say a big thank you to all the members that are so awesome and giving with helpful information.
