My almost done Hammock sock upcycle w/ video

Well this sock started life as this tent from ozark trail. I found it rolled up with poles sticking out next to a trash can after a bad storm a few weeks ago. If any of you remember my roller pack that is where I got the poles for the frame from . ANyway I have been wanting a sock for a while but not having much disposable loot I decided to make one . this is my almost done product. I still have to find some shock cord to put in the bottom like Fronkeys bugnet adn sinch up the ends abit more . But as of now I can still lay diagonal and the windows are a nice touch. Here is a little video my 7 year old helped me film . Hope you like it ! BOB http://youtu.be/-ATcGXc6qjU

Some videos charm with polish and special effects, others just charm. Excellent!

Thumbs up Any Plans on Upcycling the rain fly as a tarp?

    Camo-Bob,
I LOVE your son's enthusiasm! You should have enough material left over to make him a hanger, too! Great re-use of the materials. Are there plans to use the rain fly as a weatherproof top cover? Maybe a second one for Camo-Bobette?

Shoot, I just noticed you're from Sturgis...you don't even NEED a bug proof anything out there in my experience. Unless of course, you plan on renting out your house for a bazillion dollars and leaving during bike week?

unfortunately the fly wasnt in the bundle when I got it. As for the little ones , Mayo and the Barbarian . Both of them have their own DIY 8 footers the boy has a tarp and my daughter has a tarp and a diy burrito. My son isnt allowed to hang overnight in the woods quite yet but sleeps in his room all the time.
And the bugnet will come in handy for weekends at the lake.
I have a few other things that I made like Gaiters from waterproof military bags and small oil burners if anyone would like to see more just let me know.
thanks for the kind words -BOB

    That is a great idea.

I love the resourcefulness. That is such a great way to repurpose a discarded tent. I am sure your children are learning great and useful techniques from their dad. Way to go!

My wife would have my neck if I rented the place . She said it would have to cover buying new carpet and furniture As for the back yard , I will have a few palces to hang open for the week
