    Help looking for trails

need some help here,, i work alot and once a month i have four days off and two days off. While i have some trails here in Indiana, I would also like some info on trails bout two hours travel from chicago area. I live in Nw Indiana, and was wondering about sw michigan, and se wisconsin.. maybe northern illinois too. Looking for some solitude, moderate trails and good hanging of course..
any tips or info would be appreciated

Yankee Springs south of Grand Rapids

This place has some good trails to hike on. I am part of the local chapter of the NCTA down near Battle Creek. We have some nice trails but nowhere I would like to hang overnight, unless you wanted to do pavement hike through BC and then hang at Fort Custer then walk up to Yankee Springs. That would probably be a fun 4 day thing. Let me know sometime you are up here in SW Michigan and I might have some time to either help you out with some local spots or even hike with if I have the time.

I'm in the Chicagoland area, and in addition to the MI spots already mentioned, there are two main places on my regular list. The Kettle Moraine section of the Ice Age Trail in WI (north kettle only, not south, not good for taco hangers), and the Garden of the Gods in southeastern part of IL, at the Shawnee national forest, or any part of it really.

Shawnee National Forest rides along the Ohio, and is an easy drive down I-65 (although I'd take 41 south since there's no traffic instead) from NW Indiana.

Also, check out some other threads on here about the Hoosier Hang, I'm assuming somewhere near the Bloomington area of IN. Some nice vids on this here and YouTube. Looks like it was a good time, and only a couple hours away from NW IN.

Good luck and let me know if you find some good spots!
