9 feet is not far enough.....

What is too far for the distance between trees???? Any tips?? Next closest trees I have are 16 feet apart, seems a bit far to me. :scratch

I guess that would depend on which hammock you are using and what type of suspension.

I use my tarp ridge length plus 1 foot as the minimum distance. That is usually around 11 feet. Or 11 paces toe to heel. I do like to find the minimum to set up so there is less stretching and sag.

Yep, it is dependent of the hammock and the type of suspension. And 9 feet probably isn't enough, but 16 feet is usually about the sweet spot for most hammocks, right where you want it.

Yep 16 is great. My hammock is 10 feet long. That would give me 3 feet on each side. Or as Dutch says 2' on each side of my 12' tarp.

I have a long suspension system on my setup. I can manage 30+ feet if I want. Envolves hanging higher, but it is nice the few times I use it.

I (because of the way I tie my small hammock) am limited to about 16' max. 10-12' is about perfect for me.

14 feet is my sweet spot for my DD and my Clark, but 16 is good. I've done as much as 28 ft.

I like somewhere between 12 and 16 feet but have done as much as 25 feet and still hung there nicely but it really does depend on the length of the hammock but hang you own hang and practice different hangs in your back yard if you can that way you will know what you can and can not do when you get out in the bush.
