Can laundry line be any useful for a hammock or backpacking?

This might sound ridiculous. I just bought quite a length of laundry ropes, and they are just laying around. I was just wondering if they can be any useful of being a Structural Ridge Line or bear bag hanging rope or doing anything besides hanging cloths on. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know it's rated strength?

Structural ridgelines, in theory, shouldn't have any tension on them. However, in practice, trees are sometimes too far apart and there is significant tension on it. My personal preference for structural ridgelines is 400 pounds which puts it in the category of Zing-it.

For tarp lines, I wouldn't go below 50 pounds so your clothesline may work for you there. Most stakes planted in soil will pull out by the time they experience 50 pounds.

Works great for drying gear. beyond that it would have limited utility.

My experience with laundry lines, and it's been quite some years ago, is that that they had a fair amount of stretch so probably not the best for a structural ridge line. They did hold knots well so other than the weight and bulk, would work good for a bear bag line or....laundry

There is only one magic trick I consistently perform when I camp. I say, "Alright! It's time to set up (or take down) camp." Then all my children disappear.

All kidding aside, laundry line is a great low-stress utility type of cordage, but I wouldn't trust it to keep me off the ground--clothes only
