Thanks for all the replies I appreciate it, I ordered my hammack from REI the double nest and ordered some decending rings as well. I had some ratchet straps laying around rated at 1000lbs working and 3000lbs breaking called the manu and they said they were poly so I used the straps for a test hang from the rafters in my garage and every thing worked out great hammock was comfortable and felt sturdy. I did how ever make a noob mistake and didn't tie a slip not after the rings and while moving around to try diff postions managed to get the straps unaligned and slowly slid to the floor

I bought one of those cheap walmart hammocks for the kids and used the rope that came with it and marlin spike hitch with a toggle and i am starting to think that is the way to go. I have been watching the shug vids and the adjustableness of the woopie slings is nice but what is the weight rating on those?

The average breaking strength of 7/64" Amsteel Blue is 1600 lbs. and 2400 lbs. for 1/8". The strength of a whoopie sling will be somewhat less than those numbers, but still quite high.

The biggest problem with whoopie slings is getting your head past the fact that such a small line can be so strong. The first few times I rested my rather large posterior in a hammock with whoopie slings scared the bajeebahs out of me. Now I don't think about it. That Amsteel stuff is AWESOME!!!

This is what Samson's site says: "AmSteel® and AmSteel® -Blue Whoopie Slings have a break strength of 60% of the published average ROPE break strength."

Samson is way conservative; and this statement is out-dated. Whoopies have been tested for line made from 7/64" on up to 1/2", and strength is predictably much higher. For all but the section of the sling between the fixed eye bury and the sleeve, the load is being carried by two legs. So, avoid a stress riser of a non-tapered bury, and figure the strength to be so close to the breaking strength that it is a clutter of the mind to carry both figures in memory. (1600 lb average, 1400 lb min for 7/64"?)

Yep it's official after today's woes with the suspension I think I am going to go with the woopie slings, even with knots I have had slip issues with the ring buckle setup. I emailed arrow head equip and they said they could make me a pair with the 1/8th Amsteel so I think I am going to go for it.
