    +1 on the Wiki idea.

It would make the infinite mass of information condensed in one place, easy to edit and adjust to the latest current "best practices".

It would also certainly lower the redundancy of "what UQ/TP/WS/Tarp/whatever do I need" posts and similar basic questions already answered and discussed a million times.

I would be happy to contribute.

Well the good news is, we will have a wiki one way or the other. So that's a win. I am offering this one up to use right away and when we get one running on HF I will donate the URL to the project.

I'll get everyone accounts that wants to contribute. not for control, just for spam.

One thing I want to bring up and is important to me is the content license. I believe this information should be free for anyone to use. Not just us. Anyone in any way they see fit.

I have read and like the new Creative Commons license and I hope we would use it as well.

I have to figure out the top level organization. If anyone wants to sign up and start messing around in the sandbox, go for it.

Any ideas on the wiki hierarchy? Here is an example of what I am talking about. Of course, we don't have to capture everything up front. But this gives everyone a good idea of organization.

Hammock Camping - Gear - Hammocks
Hammock Camping - Gear - Suspension

Hi Folks, I am new here, less than a week, signed up to this forum because I like to tinker and was discouraged by the high cost of things I would rather try to make myself. Then I learned hammocks are complicated So, I have been pondering building a one pole guyed hammock stand, and have been going nuts searching through all the back entries, but I have learned a LOT though.
I for one would love to see a wiki here. Not only would it be easier to find info, but it would cut down on redundancy.
BTW, when I get my inexpensive, one pole, light weight, 7 foot expanding hammock pole set up I will post some pics on here.

Sounds like a great idea. A section on the history of hammocking (there was a great thread about that floating around a couple weeks ago) would be good, as well as a section for common manufacturers.
