Suggestions for hot humid weather UQ and TQ?

I now have a nice kit for pretty much any weather except hot and humid (but too cool for no UQ or TQ at all, not the tropics). Think August in Carolinas weather. I'm afraid my Phoenix UQ and JRB Shenandoah TQ are heavier and warmer than I'll want or need.

Asking the brain trust here for ideas, especially ones that are DIY or relatively inexpensive, or not. Have at it . . . Thanks.

Mac's IX UQ is my favorite for those conditions...probably good down to fiftyish. You don't have to worry about it getting a bit moist like you do with down and it's very lightweight.

KAQ Jarbidge River is a nicely priced UQ for slightly warmer weather. You probably want the 1 season for what you are describing (I have the 3 season and its quite toasty). It is a unique size that is just larger than a 3/4. for $100 you can't beat it.

What are the lows? I was cold at 70 degrees, 50+% humidity with just a flannel bed sheet as a TQ. No bottom insulation. Had to wear my rain jacket for insulation, and then was ok. I think a fleece sleeping bag liner would have been perfect.

seconding the Mac's IX UQ...2 layers perfect for a low of 50-55F. A hot sleeper can maybe get by with one layer.
Just weighed my double layer and its 8.7 ounces.
Agreed too that moisture is not a problem for IX.
Only minor squabble with it is loss of compressability compared to down.

I'm a warm sleeper, and looking for a solution for lows of 60 and above, maybe down to 55 at worst. I'm thinking the Jarbridge River single layer or the Mac's IX UQ single layer might do the trick, but I need to see what the weights and cost would be to decide if the cost benefit works out to pull the trigger.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Are there TQ equivalents to these UQ recommendations? Ideally I'd like to come up with an UQ and TQ that together would be less than a pound. There, now I've put a number on it.

I'm wondering the same. I'm a real warm sleeper and I have upper 60's and 50% humidity at night to deal with on a trip next week. Thinking maybe a wallyworld blue pad inside a cheap sleeping bag turned inside out (to help prevent slippage) as bottom insulation and a fleece throw for my tq. Wonder if the bottom insulation will be overkill. I don't wanna bring what i don't need.

That's a tough set of specs!

I've made top and bottom quilts that weigh 10 oz each. Just the shell of a top quilt will weigh 5-6 oz. and so will a partial underquilt by the time you add suspension. Using just 2.5 oz/sy Climashield will double those weights. The lightweight quilts I made used expensive, exotic materials and I couldn't get below a pound for a set of quilts.

I'll throw in a warning about IX top quilts. I made a double layer one at 8.5 oz with no nylon cover and I don't like it at all. Its not warm, and it makes me sweat. I think you should still consider IX for an underquilt though.
