    DL Traveler usage with pad?

Has anyone had an experience using a DL Traveler (1.1?) with a sleeping pad? I already have a Thermarest Prolite Plus and was curious if it would be of any use on the Traveler or if a smaller pad would work better.

I used to use a CCF pad in mine before I bought underquilts. The pad worked just fine And welcome to the forum!

Do you mean an inflatable like a Thermarest?
They will def. work in a double layer traveler but if it is cold enough you will get CSW (cold shoulder wrap) because the typical thermarest isn't wide enough to keep the hammock fabric from touching your shoulders.
Research a Speer Pad Extender...no longer sold but easily made that will address this.
Optimator mentioned ccf pads....they come in wide versions and several different thicknesses. I used a ccf pad this past weekend in a double bottom hammock. It was 1/8 inch thick (really thin for ccf pads) and it was good insurance that more easily packed into the backpack than the thicker ccf pads.

I remember back when Sgt. Rock just made a 'T' shape out of ccf and held it together with duct tape. I think that was before the SPE but not sure.

Optimator: Thank! this forum has such a wide breadth of knowledge, it is astounding!
MedicineMan: I will have to check that out. Would a synthetic sleeping bag be helpful for this side insulation? I am sadly allergic to down and am thus unable to use down top and under quilts.

Thanks so much for all of the info!
