    availability of seatbelt webbing?

    does anyone know where to get seatbelt webbibg... i'm looking for aprox. 2"wide stuff and most probably nylon

    But you dont want nylon for hanging your hammock
    Polyester is the best for that.

    True seatbelt webbing can often be found in automobile salvage yards. While I would not want to use them for high impact applications they would meet the criteria you laid out and probably be reasonably priced.

    wow that was fast!! i checked and dispite not seeing it the last time i was there...wed rei lists 2"flat nylon .70/foot..so i'll go local. not for hammocking,but work-need a strap to help carry my tool box. yeah, i'm getting lazy. thanx for the very quick replys

    If you have a salvage yard near by you might want to check them. You could find automobile seatbelts for less and they would fine for the application you mention.

    Seatbelt Polyester: Polyester webbing in our seatbelt style.
    Available Sizes: 1 INCH

    been using these slings for years. like better then Polyester ones.

    If it is seatbelt webbing it is polyester. Source: Free from many auto recyclers. Just show up with knife or scissors to remove from vehicles to be scrapped.

    around here auto recyclers are the last place i'd look to for reasonable prices! they seem to think that everything they hold are "one of a kind" and prices reflect it! guess you could say..there's no love lost between me and junkyards

    Oddly I got some from a local Furniture manufacturer near where I used to live and as I talk nice the one of the ladies in the sowing department she put some loop in for me.
