My DIY Hammock and Setup

nothing new here, just thought i'd share

It's a simple gathered end hammock with a cinched channel and then the amsteel is tied to the hammock with a looped bowline.

The dimensions are 10 ft hammock length w/ 8 ft ridgeline. 9 ft bug net. 6 ft tree straps and 10 feet of amsteel on each end.

I wrap the straps and tie the cords to the straps using 4 slippery half hitches. makes it very easy to untie, yet is still very secure.

The bug net has pockets sewn on the corners for weights (rocks) so that it stays flush with the hammock sides. The bug net tabs attach to prusik knots using very small nite ize s-biners.

thanks for all the comments. overall it weighs about a pound and a half, and is a lot less bulky than the bivy and pad i've been using.
