    First Hang in ENO,

Well, reading and learning so so many tricks and idea's on this site. Since, I bought my hammock. It's been modified tested Napping in the back yard. Works.
BUT time you add all the top Quilt (sleeping bag) under padding and then Free Down Quilt for underQuilt. ( no shock cord, had to use 550 cord). Amazing how fast that little single nest fills up. no way to sleep on belly, or cross ridge line sleep to lay flat. Tried many many angles, went what felt compfy while laying inside.

Went for a Outing, over the week-end. Used my Xterra has a Wind shield, parked 13 feet away from tree. ( Entire area was forest fire). Added my Woopie slings, made a Top line for Tarp. Good anchors. like others use. works. Coldest it reached was 37 degree's, and with no wind zipping through(35 MPH). I was toasty warm. Even had Ground Dwellers behind me, amazed I am in hammock. But told them.. Never have these sneaky buzz toy's trying to sneak in to tent... grins.

    darn things were sneaky...

    some photos.

enjoying a cold Dark Black Butte Porter, at sunrise while enjoying the nice start of a new day.

I will be adjusting my under-quilt with shock cord. As with a wider & long hammock. I'm 5' 9" 160 lbs.. might either make one, or just get a larger set up.

All in all, was fun to sleep and rock myself to sleep. ;-)

    Breakfast beer, nice!

I've been thinking of using my XTerra roof rack as a hang point for my hammock. Do you have good confidence in that set up?

Yes, the hammock hang off the XTerra rack, or rail. should be okay. Rack is rated for 150 cargo. But I carried more on that. Pulling angle will be iffy, so depends on weight applied.. That will be a factor.

I got lazy and only tied it to one rail and Roof basket. Best option, is to strap on other side, with the cross bar then Wrap loop on side of hang. To spread the load out. Might try hanging from my Ladder next time.

    Chug,

You have the tarp I'm looking at buying! How has the tarp worked out for you so far? Just curious. Where did you buy yours? Hang from the xterra.. that is awesome. I need to find a local shop that sells shock cord. I thought about going to the local "used stuff" shop and see if I can find and old school backpack and use the shock cord off of it.

Welcome to the forums, and to the ENO club. I also find my singlenest to be a little narrow, but still comfortable. Happy hanging'.
    with two m's, like "hammock."

Picked up the tarp from Cabala's, they had on for sale. bought two, one Noah 9 & the Noah 12. Figure use the Noah 12 for more colder hangs, and the 9 for summer applications.

The 12 is big!!!. Still have to Seam seal it, Just to be safe.

Shock cord, should be able to buy that most stores. Tractor farm store types will have it. I need to get some for the underquilt, 550 cord makes it tough to snuggle in.

I would be careful hanging from the roof rack of your vehicle, I did that once and it came right off my car. NOT pleasant at 2am : (
Had to sleep the rest of the night in the car (comfy? not at all!) and pack up and go home the next day. Worst camping trip ever.
Some of the guys here have looped their strap around the car door and then closed it and have been quite happy hanging like that, it's safer than the rack.
And a good upholstery store should have shock cord in stock.

Cabelas and Walmart probably both have shock cord with their tent repair stuff too.

I wouldn't trust a roofrack either..... You are braver than I.
