...Why is this not a sticky in the DIY forum?!?
Also, I assume that if you wanted a differential sewn-through design, you could just enter 0 as the value for the baffle height, right?

Y'know, I never considered that, but it could work. With that said, I'd do some experimenting first to see if it gives you reasonable baffle cross-sections.
I'm glad that folks are still getting some use out of my calculator. Sounds like Boston made some improvements lately, so perhaps an update is in order. Teamwork!
Thanks for the spread sheat CS, I'm getting reading to try my hand at making an UQ.
Great job, and thanks for the base line chart. That will very helpful when I begin mine,
What is meant by Dual Differential?
The fabric is differentially cut in both length and width, instead of just the width.
I am dumbfounded by the amount of time and effort put into this calculator for the good of the forum.
I do have a question.
What does it mean they differentially cut? Are you talking about adding the wall height to the outer edge is or are you talking about the fact that there's a difference between the width of the outer fabric and it in a fat break based on the circumference of a circle and a curve at an outer radius is longer than a curve at the inner radius? I've always wondered.
I made my first quilt thinking that just adding the baffle height to the outer edges was the way to go but when I wrapped the quilt around me it flattened out because the curves were the same length.
A quilt with a 3 inch baffle height can have a difference of 3 inches in width between the inner and outer shells. This is before you take into account needing to add the baffle height to each side. This is assuming a 29 inch inner radius.
Does the calculator take this differential into consideration?
Sorry for the rambling. I hope this makes sense.

For a width differential the baffle spacing will be wider on the outer layer than on the inner layer, based on an assumed radius and the arc angle (determined by the width of the quilt). It will also add the baffle height to each edge to make a "box" structure".
A length differential just add's baffle height to the ends. You could do the math to find a length difference between the outer and inner shell, but due to the large radius a quilt will have, length wise, the difference is minimal.
And yes, the calculator does this.
