I will definitely give you a heads up when we get this group hang "off the ground" and it's no longer just a thread.

I'm aiming for something by the first half of July, somewhere higher in elevation and far away from cars and campgrounds. Maybe it will turn into a Dolly Sods/Roaring Plains trip!!

I'm heading for Seneca Creek this weekend! A friend and I are taking newbie backpacker for her first trip and Seneca Creek has it all: Beautiful stream side hiking (with swimmin' Holes), fishing, Scenery out the whazoo and pretty easy hiking for a new b-packer. They are not (gasp) hangers, but they have potential to move up to 1st class accomodations

I have not been to Sky meadows SP in a while. I do love SNP too.
I will keep a group hang in VA in mind.

    Thumbs up Virginians Unite

You can count me in for a July hang. I'm also a proud
PATC member. I haven't gotten out much recently because of
working 6 days a week. I did make it down to Damacus for Trail Days.
A great event! The Jacks were there and they helped me with
    The setup for my BMBH.

Jealous! I got my WBBB in the mail one day before they announced mandatory overtime at work. I have been extremely eager to find somewhere to try it out, and people to go with.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.

I would be up for a hang. I am in Richmond, so most any sitewould be good. I am a newb to hammocks, but quite a bit of experience bushcrafting. So backwoods gets my vote!

Sounds good. I'll try to make at least one night. Thanks for the info.

I'm new and in the Richmond area as well. I'd be up for a trip in July as well. I took 15 days off of work and have no plans other than do nothing.

    Already on MY list

Shenandoah would be good, I'm in MD, depending on timing may bring daughter who's a newbie in hammocks.

Big Meadows has a lot of people, I like Loft Mtn better but a group gathering would be a bit difficult. I haven't been to Sherando in years, nor the St Mary's Wilderness, but my recollection of each is good. If you don't mind something more civilized, Rocky Gap St Park near Cumberland has a group site which I *think* has trees to hang, and has the lake for those who want to swim/paddle, and hiking trails. Greenbriar St Park is a bit more rustic, but has a lot.
