Anyone hanging at Burning Man 2012?

Anyone hanging at Burning Man 2012? I am going this year and would love some input. I heard of a hammock louge. I am not sure if its a Hanger Community or not. I also need help preparing for BM. I am not bringing my WBBB but i will bring my ENO DN and maybe my MAmbajaba tarp. Your experience is helpful. Thank you.

Burning Man is in the middle of no where. Everything brought in is carried out. Bring your own hammock stand if you plan on setting up a hammock. There are times the winds can be fierce across the high desert. I wouldn't set up a tarp, but plan on taking everything down if this is the case. I doubt you'd be able to get a good enough stake to keep your tarp from being shredded.

From everything I have ever heard from folks that have been I would not take anything worth more than I am willing to loos aka have disappear when you turnaround. But that is the general rule I would work with at any festival/event. Not putting anything out there against burning man or those that go just what I have heard from friends that have been.

Thanks, good advise. Once i get to know the area i will find a way to get a hanger community going for the future. Stay tuned...

Normally I would agree with you, but the Burner community is usually far more honest than that of your average festival. I just got back from Bonnaroo and saw some pretty creative uses of PVC pipe and Bamboo to make hammock stands.

This hammock stand comes from ideas gleaned from an early Burning Man event. It works great for that flat desert area.

Inexpensive too. Just take down your hammock kit and put it in a day pack when you walk around.
