I have a Pendleton blanket that I shrank the heck out of "Felting" the technical name, I washed it in hot water and dried it in a dryer. It is .66 inches thick, I would have to be dropped in a lake to soak the blanket.
It is heavy, and bulky, I do not like to sleep in a bunch of clothing, so it does not take me much below 40 or so, if I add my trusty Viet Nam. era poncho linner, I go lower. I live part of the time in Northern B.C. where it is very dry and cold, I use wool a lot.
