For whipping the hammock ends if you plan to use "string" rather than cinch ties what type of whipping string do you use and why?
I have some remnant lengths of Spectra kite line. Any reason for not recycling this stuff for whipping chord?

Mason's line because its small and tough. But, it's yellow.
Found some duck decoy line at ****'s Sporting Goods. It's basically Mason's line, but its black with orange spots, much better.
Before that, I tried shoe stings, sissal twine, nylon twine, ...
What about 550 cord? Will it work?
I've been using a 2mm accessory cord from the climbing section. More than strong enough & I can pull it as tight as I want & even jerk it really tight w/ two pairs of pliers after it's in place.
I too will something make and joy in it's making
Where does a person get mason's line?
Any hardware store should have it unless you want some special color or specialty weave or something like that. It is a very common item.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Okay cool.
Any idea about what section you'd go to for that? Or is it different in every store?
mason tells me it's somthing to do with rocks.... but I don't really know if there is a mason's section....
They have these people in the stores.... They are called clerks...
Those folks would know where it is. If they don't... find another hardware store cause that one is bogus....
For that matter.. Wall,y World has mason''s line in the rope section... but I am not sure I would trust it for much. Looks a lot like the twine they sell for chalklines with a different label on it.

"Every day above ground is a good day"
heyyyyyyyyy are you giving me attitude?
Stores around here have terrible customer service so tend to not talk to people working, cause they pull the "I'll help you in just a moment" then talk to their friend on their cell phone for about 20 minutes.
So I just thought I might ask incase someone had a straight up answer for me.
:P
