    TQ design?

Anyone have a good pattern for a light TQ? I am trying to make something similar to HG's burrow but lighter. I have no idea how to get started with this. MY idea so far is to come up with a quilt made of M50 that will open out flat and weigh less then 16oz for a 20-30* bag. Any help on how to get started would be much appreciated. Filling the thing with down scares the heck out of me also lol. I can just see my dogs chasing goose down through my living room.

I am 6'-1" tall and weigh 200#. So, adjust the following for your physique.

My finished quilt size is a rectangle 78"x40".
For a 22 degree rating use 10 ounces of 850 fill power down.

I cut my fabric to be 82" plus seam allowance by 42" plus seam allowance because I lose 5% to shrinkage.

Space the baffles 5-1/8" apart. You will have 16 chamber or 15 pieces of baffle.

The finished baffle height should be 1-3/8" tall so cut them 1-7/8" so that you have two 1/4" extra to sew to the shells.

For the footbox, you can sew it permanently or put a draw ord channel in it or use omni-tape (2 sided velcro).

The whole thing shouldn't weigh more than 15 ounces.

might also check out this classic article at thru-hiker.

You can even order the kit from them though I'm not sure if you save over materials alone.
