Helping someone with a bridge hammock and I'm clueless, please comment

I've got a friend with a bridge hammock and I've only spent one night in one so I'm clueless as to what is causing her issue. She is experiencing sore muscles between her shoulder blades in the day following sleeping in her hammock. Any ideas as to why?

What kind of hammock does she have? Maybe the hammock is too narrow and she is getting too much shoulder squeeze.

Homemade. 36" spreader bar. She says she doesn't feel shoulder squeeze.

I saw that post earlier and did not answer because I had no clue. But now I'm wondering: Is her hammock way deep? I think the spreader bars on the new JRB UL are the same as on the standard, not wider. But it feels a noticeable bit roomier in the shoulders, which I THINK is because it is 4" less deep. So even if her bars are a very wide 36", if it is deep enough she might sink down into the hammock causing problems. Then again, I think she said she had no squeeze issues, so maybe not. In which case I still have no clue.

I know that hammock! Rabbit built it to the same specs I used on my lightweight bridge, and did a very nice job of it too (I saw the pics)...

I have not had this problem nor have I heard of anyone else having it before. The one thing to change is the length of the ridgeline, to pull up the middle either less or more. Since I think you'd notice a sagging bottom, perhaps it is a touch too long.

    just guessing here...

thanks, someone else suggested shortening the ridgeline a little

I'll give it a try and see what happens

Is it possible that her problem isn't related to the hammock and maybe pain from carrying a pack? Or could she be tensing her shoulders back to subsconsciously support herself somewhat in the new hammock? Probably doesn't help, just some other ideas.

Is she using a pillow? It could be that having her shoulders pulled up (however slightly), combined with her head being raised is "dropping" her spine and causing the pain.

It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

This is what I posted in the other thread
"I just finished making my first bridge hammock and have been sleeping in it in the backyard. Very comfortable.

I noticed when I get up in the morning and throughout the day the muscles between my shoulder blades feel fatigued and a little sore.

I'm using 36" spreader bars at both ends, I don't notice any squeeze on my shoulders and no pressure on my back. I get the same fatigue with or w/o a pillow.

    Any ideas as to why?

    thanks"

it's the same with and without a pillow

I don't feel any pain while I'm in the hammock, only the next morning after I get up

was hoping to use the hammock this week on the trail, but for now I'm staying on the ground where I've always been comfortable
