eagles nest tarp

I own the Eagles Nest set up (hammock, net, and tarp). I do have to say although I've used it during a hard rain last spring without any leaks it is rather heavy. Also as someone mentioned above not only do you have to have the two "ridgeline" tieouts there are also six others to stake in the ground and/or to low brush, rocks... If I had to do it again, I'd get a rectangular tarp that has the option of tieing out like an a-frame in bad weather or tieing it diagonaly in better weather. It does have a funky shape though. But I doubt that's a good selling point.

50 mph?? Are you kidding? It was WAY worse than that!! I think we hit the eye wall around the same time Jeff was dunking his quilt in the creek...100 mph at least! And don't you remember the tornados???

i thought we agreed that we wouldn't scare the others telling them about having to climb up a tree on the next mt & rescue ground dweller that was camped near us who had been swept up, tent & all & carried away!!!
that dude's lucky us hammockers stayed safe & secure so we could come rescue him!!!

I didn't participate in that one. The way I heard it, it was a particular low-temp hanger who rescued 20 tenters all by himself! Wearing nothing but his birthday suit and a 1/8" CCF!

I use an ENO setup with the SingleNest and the DryFly and have never had the first drop of rain on me in my hammock. Granted, I'm still a newbie, but that's my two cents.

Then there's the other side. I ran into a nouveau hanger who didn't stake his hammock out and found out, much to his dismay, that he was prone to motion sickness. He went through a bad storm and ended up puking himself inside his hammock. It was a stinky, ugly mess!

Being long time ago ex-Navy, the swinging just reminds me of swells in an LST next to a pier during a blow. But that's just me. YMMV, PDCC.

The rocking motion of the hammock is one of the best things, IMHO.
