Overnight orange county NY / Putnam

Newbie looking for suggestions of places in orange or Putnam for my first overnight hang

You are so close to Black Rock near Cornwall. You can even hike to it through the Long Pond area (if you have Military access). Or you can even hike on Schunnemunk Mountain or in Harriman State park.
I live in OC and am about to go on my first overnighter soon. I'm going to the Adirondacks in July.

Thanks for idea. Black rock is really like my back yard. Live closer to Angola side of the point. Where are you a RN? I spent almost 14 years working EMS at the level 1 across the river
