I actually tried that and it seemed to work ok until some of the duct tape accidentally came in contact with the tarp while trying to hang it up and while folding it. It wasn't very forgiving and I soon had a lot of duct tape patches where I had tried to peel it off and it ripped.
Now, I was only using 2mil so thicker plastic might have been better.

The reason I cited it was for the fiberglass tape tie outs. I'm not going to tape the whole thing along the suspension points. It is quite unnecessary for poly tarps.
I suppose I could just try tie outs with gorilla tape since I already have some laying around.
I'm going to hopefully test the glue on an old section of tarp tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on how well it adheres. If testing is good, I'll pull the trigger on this thing relatively soon.
No offense, but any thicker than 2 mil and its not worth carrying as it will be MORE bulky than a standard tarp. imho, anyway. If I ever got the desire to make a painter's plastic tarp, I'd probably either go 1.5mil, which is strong enough, or the .7 mil for space/weight savings. Don't think I'll ever get that itch though. I'll stick to 5mil blue tarps.
Here ya' go...never heard of it, but google got me there...http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...E&feature=plcp
