Suggestions for a hammock for a big guy

    Hello all,
I have a friend that I think I have brought over to the world of tree swingers but he is a pretty big dude. Bout 6'5" and over 250. He bought an ENO SN, which I think I have convince him to return, and told him that he would be more comfy in a DN, but I would like to tell him about other options. Any suggestions?

I am 6'1" and 265#. I am very happy with my hennessy explorer. If the hennessy is not to his liking, then some of the vendors here might custom make just what he is looking for. I bought a GT nano 7 to try the light weight thing. Not a good choice for someone my size. I either have to lay bent like a banana, or my feet hang over the edge 8-10 inches. It is fine for short naps/laying around, but I could not sleep all night in it.

If there is a hang in your area coming up, you might try taking him to that. There should be a nice mix of equipment to check out.

I just made a DIY. It's really big and comfortable and I'm 6'5" 235lbs. It was my first DIY, and surprisingly easy to do using the whipping methods and a larks' heads.

at 6'6" & 270lb I'm running a Hammock bliss triple, without to many complaints. Sleeping in it around every other night. As far as things I would change. Bout the only thing I can think of would be to add say 2 feet lengthwise to it.
Perhaps in the mad scramble for sexy light weightness I and everyone else has forgotten the most important function of gear – not that it must weight nothing, look good and be cheap, but that it must keep you alive and increases your survivability.

Search a little here, just by subject. A thread opens on this at least once a month, so there is lots of advice.

    And lots of big guys.

The HH Safari is a great hammock for a big person. I am only 5' 10" and I love it. Lots of room and the lay is exceptional. It weighs a little more, but is well worth it.
Also, PapaSmurf DangerBird is exceptional and I love it. It is 11' and great for a big person. Good luck.
