    I'm not much worried by extra weight so I have been using biners in pair as a ring buckle system.

    Am I gonna die in my sleep?

    nah, chances are that you'll wake up first with the falling motion. Or briefly have a really interesting dream....

    seriously though, you should be fine especially if you throw the half hitch behind the the biners to lock any slippage in place. "Normal" use of the garda hitch (closely related to ring buckles, but using cord) is using two biners. So if they are rated and wide enough for the webbing, shouldn't be a problem.
