    New Guy From Georgia!

Hey yall, Im new to the forum as well as hammock camping. I bought an ENO Doublenest for my dog and myself. I have used it once...still a little unsure. I will be hanging for a week at boy scout summer camp at the end of June and then in July my brother and I are knocking out the section of the AT from Springer Mountain up past the North Carolina line. Im sure by then I will be used to it. I do not have a rain fly yet, any suggestions? I dont know if I should stick with ENO or get something else. I like what I have read about the Dry Fly but aint made up my mind yet.

Welcome to the forums, from Ohio. The Eno DN was my first hammock and I'm hanging on to it....but for a long backpack trip you may want to go 1.1 or 1.4 ripstop nylon instead. It would be a lot lighter weight for you. I'm not a long haul backpacker, but a friend of mine made my son a super light weight hammock and I certainly see the merits in that and feel the difference, not to mention it is comfortable too.

Make sure your hanging close to a 30 degree and you hang your foot end higher than your head end.

    Welcome from middle GA!

Money will be a key component to a tarp decision when it comes to weight. I have both a Warbonnet superfly and a ZPacks cuben fiber tarp. Love them both and both have great coverage. The ZPacks is about a third the weight but about three times the cost.

Look forward to hearing about your hike!

Welcome from South Georgia! I have Enos and highly recommend getting an adjustable ridgeline to drastically improve comfort. arrowhead Equipment makes a great one for about $14 if you're not a DIYer.

    welcome from gwinnett county ga!!

the first thing i would do with the eno is get rid of the rope and biner attached to it. replace with a continuous loop descender rings then add 1 inch polyester webbing straps easy set up. several vendors offer a variety of ways to modify the eno.
tarps, so many to choose from, but i would stay away from the eno tarp.

watch shug's videos for noobs and enjoy the ride!!

p.s. been using my eno for 12+ yrs and is my go to for backpacking backpacking
