    Total newbie. Question about suspension

I am trying to go ultralight...transitioning from ground to hammock. Ordered a nano-7. Waiting for it to arrive. I have been looking at suspension and doing a lot of research, whoopie slings, etc...why am I looking to change the stock setup? That is my question to you and me. I have never owned a hammock and have been reading up on them for a while on here and other sites, so I feel I have a good grasp on things without experience, but wondering why I was about to order new suspension without even trying the one that comes with it

Any info would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks,
    Evin

    DON'T DO IT!!!!!

Take your new toy and use it. Get to know what you like and don't like about it. Mess around with setting it up in different ways. Then, after thoroughly "breaking it in" you will know what you want to change.

And then, after making all the changes and getting it 'perfect' you will be ready,

    really ready,

    really, really ready,

to buy another one and start the process all over again.

Welcome to the world of the slightly elevated, you'll never go back!

Whoopies are lightest but I agree with dog totally. I went DIY and still modded a lot of things with my hammock. Mainly suspension. Messin' with stuff is half the fun! Happy hangin

Any suggestions on UL bug and tarp setups that would go well with the nano

I reside in Arizona myself add me to your friend list. I have plan's for a hang this month early next month. I make all my own gear there for have my own suspension. Dynaglide is lightest woopie to date. You can order this stuff cheap on amazon or wespur. For a tarp look at zing it. It is the lightest rope to handle the job. I suggest that you take your tarp hammmock quilts and set em up take em down set em up and take em down tweak your sytem and set it up break it down and keep tweaking it until you get it just the way you want it. Many times I went out in the woods without preping at home and had to learn in the field. Theres plenty of guidance for everything from your tarp to how to dry out your boots in hammock fourms. Just take your time dont be in a hurry to spend your money. Look compare all the details. easy is better ultralight and super easy is even better remember this simple rule. Go on to www.whiteblaze.com these guys are real guru's on what you need and what you dont. Listen to what they have to say because its basically always right weather your on the ground or above the ground. Get out have fun go out in the woods with what ever you got. You might want to think about bishop bag for hammock, snake skins for your tarp, helps in set up.

I'm with GrayDog. Try the hammock in the stock configuration and make note of what you like and don't like. You can mod from there if you feel the need. You will most likely save time and money in the process
