Tableclothsfactory has free shipping through June 12th

The title says it all. You can't hardly beat $12.99 for a 60" x 126" crinkle taffeta "hammock blank" (they call it a "rectangular tablecoth" ) All the sides are hemmed already. Just gather the ends and you've got a hammock.

Just thought I'd pass along the opportunity to save on shipping. I missed it last time!

I think it's every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Then the rest of the week they usually have 10% off coupons.

Just finished my very 1st DIY hammock using the 60 x 126. It's the 1st hammock I've tried other than the rope ones with the large spreader bars. Tablecolth factory had it on my doorstep in 5 days.

I whipped the ends for a no sew version with mason line one of the ends slipped a little while I tried it out today. Re-whipped with longer whipping (more wraps) and so far so good.

Is there a better whipping material? Right now I'm thinking I'm going to learn to sew! Next decision is whether to by a BIAS or DIY one for my first backpacking trip.

anyone know how much weight this stuff will hold? i'm thinking about getting two to sew together to make a double layer for my first diy.

A pair of good, hard braid boot laces. Easier on the hands than the small mason's twine and also strong.

I whipped up two this weekend 90x132, nice hammocks. My husband loved the purple. I may do several more for some friends. Also may do a few as prizes for the Boy Scouts.

I use a couple of Cable Ties and rely on snugging the suspension behind them to hold it all together. Very easy to redo if not satisfied with the lie.

I have a 126X60 with amsteel whoopie slings and tree straps in a Marlin Spike and it held 450lbs with no problem. Me my wife and our boxer. I have had me and both my kids (6 and 8) in it also, with them squirming around and it was asking for more. I will warn you that a double layer would be quite heavy for backpacking.

I think PapaSmurf has a picture floating around with a single layer of this fabric with over 500 pounds in it and all was good. I believe he rates a single layer to 300 pounds (likely conservative estimate).

    Cheers
