Replacing channel lines?

Hey All!

The existing heavy and oversized ENO channel lines do a double loop through the channels. I replaced mine with a 12" continuous climbing webbing loop made out of dyneema, super light and attached SMC rings. My question, the factory sent it with the line doubled thru the channel, do I have to double the slings or can I once thru and pull through the loop? It tightens on itself and I have seen some that appear to be rather loosely run through a large continuous loop that does not tighten down on its self? Thoughts, suggestions...

I think any of those methods would work just fine. I beleive what you are describing is a larks head...

Some folks worry about a single line of dyneema "sawing through" the fabric. I have a hammock with continuous loops of Amsteel run through once (I made the bury after running a single line through the channel. I've had no problems but it's only a couple of months old. I'm sure someone else with more experience with this set up will chime in. Good luck!

A larks head is formed in a slightly different manor but the end result is the same as what you would be doing when you run through the channel that way. A girth hitch is what you making and functionally it would not matter is you do it with a single pass or a double pass through the channel. Both single and double would work and the double would be good if you need to reduce the overall lenght of the "tail"...whats left sticking out of the channel when you cinch it all up tight.

After looking it up, the girth hitch is exactly what I did. Hope it holds. I think that the nature of the flat climbing slings will eliminate any sawing effect.

I like Cigars

Most of us use much smaller ropes. I hang from 1.8mm line run through a channel all the time. Once it is cinched down tight it should not move and "saw" at the fabric.
