Their was a lot of things that didn't happen on my first night in a hammock.

It's been a couple of months now but I'm just getting around to posting. I did a lot of reading here, I also asked a lot of questions in many post . I did a lot of testing in my shop trying to determine proper angles, height, sweet spot etc. I tried my best to to do everything I could to make my first night a sucess, and here is what didn't happen.

I didn't have to hunt a place to sit.
    I didn't have calf ridge.
I didn't have trouble with hyper-extension of the knees.
    I didn't shoulder squeeze.
    I didn't have cold spots.
I didn't have trouble getting up and down when nature called.
I didn't have sore hips, knees and shoulders the following morning.
And last but not least. I DID'NT HAVE ANY BACK PAIN!

For the first night I'd say I was pretty lucky and I'd have to say it was a success. Thanks to all here who have helped a novice hammocker!

Well, that is one way to do it: read the "instructions( i.e. HF posts) BEFORE all else fails! Certainly not the way I did it, sadly! Way to go!

Good job! I still find myself half expecting to be sore when I get up after a night in the hammock. The nights sleeping on the ground are hard to forget. Sure is nice to feel no soreness in the morning ain't it?

Doesn't sound like luck to me Dave. Sounds like a perfect application of the rule of 6P's.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Same here Dave. Any minor issues I've had with my hammocks or tarps aren't even worth mentioning compared to sleeping on the ground.
