    Clark Hammocks and Ridge line?

Can a Clark Jungle Hammock be fitted correctly with a ridge line. I only ask so I have no issues with setup and sag differences. I am new to setting mine up so I only asked to make my life easier. But I am not opposed to learning on my own if I can't add one. Guess I am asking cause I am being lazy LOL.

I have one on my Clark UL. I think there are some pics in my gallery. It works well with the ring/strap setup.

    I really like this idea!
    How did you do that?
I guess the the rings are fixed by clove hitch ?
Otherwise it would be pretty hard to do the adjustments.
But if they are, aren't they moving around when you take the hammock down?
How hard was it to figure out the length of that (amsteel?) ridgeline ?

Wait a minute, it's just one ring on each side ?
Wouldn't it be nice to have a ring buckle with straps to the tree?

Ahh, i think i got it now !
The ridgeline is loose, just through the ring, no knot?

Hmm, maybe i can hang the hammock that way and
kind of mark where the rings should be.

    Take the whole thing down.
Add a little on the ridge line for the knots.
And finally attach the rings permanent.

    What do you think?

When I was using my Clark I added the ridge line in a similar way except...I did not have ring buckles and was using 5m rope for suspension. All I did was tie two Alpine Butterfly Loops in my suspension line at the right height for the netting to hang correctly and then just tied my ridge line off those two loops. Yes this takes away from the strength of the suspension rope with adding knots but my line strength is well above my needs. It took a little while to find the exact spot to tie the Alpine Loops but it made all the difference when I was able to remove my Tarp from the kit. This gave me the ability to setup the Tarp for lunches or allow me to tie the Tarp as high as needed over my Hammock without the bungee cords limiting me. To tie the Alpine Loops follow this link. Real easy.

In the Clark NA that I've used, the netting does not need a ridgeline at all. It stays way above my head and gives gobs of headroom. What I would like to do however, is add an internal ridgeline to hang a small bag, for little things like flashlight, GPS, CellPhone, SPOT, and other things I don't want to leave outside (more vulnerable to weather, critters and or finding new owners). I didn't see any real easy way to accomplish this, without pulling the netting down a bit. Any ideas?

if you still have that borrowed na look in the top corners of each end there is a little loop at both ends there and that is where I have tied a small line there to hang stuff from if you look at my video's I point that out.

Cavediver, Yes I saw those. When I used them though, it seemed to collapse the net a bit. Not entirely, but it did pull it down somewhat. Maybe if I strung the hammock net lines a bit more tight. I'll try that, thanks.

Why not just use a Prusik knot to each support line and tie a ridge line between the two. Then you can slide the Prusik as needed to adjust the length of the necessary ridge line.
