    Footbox and doublelayer?

Ok, so I've been messing around with a DIY channelled end hammock, just addded the Ghosthammock footbox and now I'm thinking DL would be a good idea.

How would one go about to do this? I guess I could just do an extra layer for the footbox too, but maybe that's overkill? Might just sew the DL to the hammockbody and leave the footbox singlelayered.

Any input and advice is highly appreciated!

Oh, and my appologies if this matter's been covered elsewhere, I'm a useless forum-searcher..

    Thanks! / Mix

I have been pondering this myself too, but I think I'm going to go with the shock cord on the rolled hem that I read about on here somewhere...

What do you want the double layer to do? Normally a DL hammock is built that way to gain strength. In that case the ends need to be common to both layers and it helps to do some side stitching. With the hammock already built it would need to be completely disassembled to be made into a double layer. If you are not doing that all you can do is add an insulation pocket or layer.

The thing is, I've bought some polyester-type fabric on an auction online, and I'm starting to have second thoughts on how strong/weak it is. Have no idea what the specs are, but one hammock I made is 3m (10ft) long and 1.50m (5ft) wide and wheighed in at 196 grams...
So, mainly it is to add some strength, but I'm getting increasingly curious about having a layer to slip my Gelert selfinflatable pad in. We'll see what I'll do, I had an idea last night that I might try, and if that doesn't work I'll simply make a copy of the footboxed one and sew them together!

    Thanks for the quick reply
