I will be getting some of that Technu Extreme also. And you guys that don't breakout from the stuff, come to SC and rid my yard of the darn stuff. I got it trying to get rid of a vine making it's way up my Fig Tree.

    Technu, good but expensive.

Look up Jewel weed, that often grows were PI does; stress / twist stems, rub on area. Save full plant in ziplock bag to ferment into goo, for future use. This is good to know on trail (away from pharmacy ).

Ask old timers :BEFORE yard work, lather with Fels-Napa ( brown laundry soap ) .

Use Ortho Brush-B-Gon Poison Ivy Oak & Brush Killer
    READ instructions.
Do not have to get every leaf, it must travel down inside of stem.

Thanks for the Jewel weed suggestion. Now I have to go all around the yard and see if I have any.

....My mother is the same way. She doesn't have to touch it all and will get PI if she is down wind. She gets it terribly bad and always has to have shots and medication. I'm fortunate in that I don't get it anymore. For about 15 years I have been immune to it, but just like allergies, that could change at any moment.

NCPatrick, hope this isn't too late. Get yourself some of this too:

Put this lotion (available in a cream also) on BEFORE messing with poison ivy. It blocks the oils from bonding with your skin and washes off, taking the oils with it.

I can't say I've given it a definitive test, but it's worked so far for me.

Technu is available at the Walmart pharmacy too. (it's expensive!)

    Good luck!

I tried the Technu on my arm the other day, and I'm not sure it didn't get worse because of it. I was already into the third week, but the area I tried it on became redder and more bubbly for the next few days (and counting). I know this is not the optimum time to use it, but I would suggest a trial spot first.

Will chime in to simply say that it feels like you are itching to the bone. It took the fun out of geocaching for me, and it got worse every time I got in it. The last time was very bad, and my daughter took me to the doctor and asked the nurse if she would give me a "shut-up shot." Cortizone is a wonder drug.
