Question Never Camped in a Hammock, where to go in NJ 1st timer.

    Hello All...

I have been a member on this site for some time but never posted till now.

I am ready to try a hammock and have a few hammocks to chose from... I got them from a lady on CL a while ago, they include a HH Expedition 2.5, HH Ultralight 1.5, and two Crazy Creek's. I paid $75 for the 4 of them shipped, not too bad, but this was back in 2010 & I still havent used them, I have set them up and often thought of going camping, but the time is now...

I have ordered rap rings, shock cord, para cord, stakes, fig 9's knotbones, and caribiners, just need to get some tree straps, then I am all set.

So, for my 1st question here... Where in New Jersey should I go Hammock Camp as my 1st time/experience?

Thanks to all who took time to read this and for those who can help... I would also like to take my kids but only after I try this out by myself 1st.

    Have a great day.

    Ben

Welcome to the forums from Florida.
We have several members from NJ and I'm sure they will chime in with hiking suggestions in your area.

Have fun with the hammocks and more importantly, have fun with the kids!

    TY MAD777,

I really want to go this route as I want to be doing bicycle touring and it seems this setup is the lightest route, in addition, with the kids, we are going camping next week, I will bring the hammocks along with the tent and give it a try with them...

They are spoiled, raised air mattress, gas stove, showers, toilets, etc... I know I want to do it for certain...

    thanks though...

    Ben

Welcome to the forum. Im not from Nj but i suggest you head to Bear mountain/Harriman State park in Ny. there are many great spots to set up and hammock. one spot that is very nice is Island Pond in Harriman. Its just off the Appalachian trail near Lemon Squeezer. Harriman/ Bear mountain is only a hour north.
