“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it." -Terry Pratchett
"This is a tree by the way... these things grow by themselves, there's no water filtration system, no sprinklers that I see and it grows"
im now unfortunatly convince that the mosquito net dont hold very well.. if you are moving a little (a lot in that case) and that I hate velco.
The fellow doing the demo doesn't understand how the bug net works or the hammock as a whole. That thing he tightened up that looks like a structural ridge line is not actually an SRL. It is the bugnet suspension ridge line only, and should be tightened up only after you are completely situated in the hammock. That way you don't get it waaaay to tight like he did. Tightening it way up like he did, increased the hammock sag (watch it slump). After that wrong adjustment the hammock is partially supported by the bug net (that is until he gets in). The ripping sound of velcro when he gets in means the hammock and is butt is no longer being supported by bug net, but now he can't get the velcro closed because he has the hammock pulled up like a banana by the bug net suspension ridge line. I don't own a Speer but I did carefully read the book about how it works and how to build one. The guy who made the video should have done the same. Those hammocks are elegant in their simplicity. That guy obviously never put in one trail mile with one.
"To turn from this increasingly artificial and strangely alien world is to escape from unreality. To return to the timeless world of the mountains, the sea, the forest and the stars is to return to sanity and truth." --Robert Burnham Jr.
The video's not about the Seer hammock, but I have one in it. I'm sitting in it at the beginning of the video. Great hammock by the way.
