Just want to point out before everybody ends up with shiny crinkly hammocks, although this material is nice, I still don't find it as comfortable or as breathable as ripstop. And it's nearly twice as heavy per sy as 1.4 oz ripstop.

The 1.4 that Scott sells at diygearsupply isn't much more expensive either.

That being said, I have made three and have 10 more blanks ready to go! If you don't want to sew and aren't really weight conscious, welcome to crinkle taffeta!

    (I still sleep in ripstop.)

A 90 x 132, and a 58 x 126, being hemmed right now by my helpful wife. Should have them hung and tested in a short while. Well maybe just a bit longer, I think I will have to make a set of whoopies. I also have to make one or two more hammock stands, I want to be a good host when friends drop by.

Just received a fushia and a gold blank. After the fabric softener in the wash, I like how they feel well enough. Will at least be a cheap option to get the fiancee hanging.

I bought mine from this place. The price for four 60"x126" tablecloths is just under $52, so it's comparable, but the postage to Australia (if you choose airmail as I did) is only a further $29, so all up it's ~$80 for four hammocks. I think that's pretty good!

It's a YMMV situation. The Taffeta feels great to me. Then again, this is just my bedroom hammock. Perhaps it's different out in the world.

I don't hike much but I generally sleep at least once a day.

I found that I can't relax as well in the loud colors. Feel like my hammock is always screaming at me. I'm using a dark blue one now and have some brown crinkle I'm eying too.
Gotta keep some Red Orange and Yellow flags around for hunting season though. Dark hammocks look a lot like a moose to a half blind trigger happy hunter.

    HEY, try closing your eyes.

And I've found during hunting season EVERYTHING looks like a deer or a moose.
