Here's my first take on a DIY for my wife's first hammock. Thanks to everyone for the sharing of whipping techniques, splicing techniques, and creative idea sharing - wouldn't have been able to create either this hammock or the first ever whoopie slings it's suspended with here. Just need to work on the tree straps, possibly add an adjustible ridgeline, and I'm done with this one. Thank you all!

Thanks! It was so comfortable and easy to do, have 5 more tablecloths on order for me and a few others as gifts. The fabric is very comfortable and I think it lays as good as my WBBB XLC DL 1.1. A bit heavier when comparing apples to apples but think these make a great backyard or car camping hammock.

    3. Nope. I always use 100% poly because cotton and cotton blends will rot eventually.

    Hope that helps!
Question about that strap from Harbor Freight. Did you remove the non slip cam, then sew in a loop or just leave it as is?

Referring to Just Jeff's standard whipping instructions, after the fold in step 1, insert the small loop end of the whoopie sling at the bottom of the fold. Now gather as shown in step 2. Finding the loop inside the gather, pull it up and over so that the fabric tuft and the other end of the sling pass through the loop. Now twist the loop a half turn and pass it up and over so that the fabric tuft and the other end of the sling pass through it again. Pull the sling tight. The harder you pull it, the tighter the loop clamps down on the fabric, locking itself in place. No whipping necessary.
I must try this method. Sounds like it is very secure and strong too.

LOL...I have received three of these tablecloths and have ordered two more and now one of my friends wants me to make an apple green one for her 2 yr old boy.... I wonder where it will stop? I love the feel of the fabric too.

Just came in from relaxing in my new 90"x156" cotton version. I'm really liking the 13' length.

Give it a try (in the crinkle poly version)...you can always make it smaller. I think the available lengths are 10.5'. 11' and 13'.

What are your personal dimensions? Were the sides taut or flapping in the wind?
