    Mammoth Cave Spring Feeler

Alright, figured it was getting time that we need to start thinking about this somewhat serious and start talking dates.

Important dates to keep in mind and avoid (imo):

April 7-8, Easter Weekend and Youth Turkey Weekend
    April 14-May 6, Turkey Season
    May 12-13, Mother's Day Weekend
May 26-28, Memorial Day Weekend and Memorial Day

So, in my mind, we could look at doing March 31-April 1 weekend and have an early possibly cool hang or May 19-20 in order to completely miss all that other stuff I listed above.

I have no problem missing a weekend of turkey season as I am not all that big a turkey hunter so don't think that any weekend during turkey season is verbodden.

After dates we can discuss the plan of attack for this thing. We can hike and hang at one of the established sites or canoe/kayak and hang anywhere in the floodplain. If we decide to paddle we should make an alternate date atleast two weeks removed from the original in case of spring floods or be willing to scrap paddling and hike instead in the event of spring flood.

Let me know what you think.

I really hope to be able to make whatever weekend is chosen. I know I have several weekends already taken in april.
Mushroom season runs april thru early may for me. mammoth Cave NP is one of my favorite places to hunt them. A backcountry mushroom fry sounds like a great idea!!

March 31 - April 1 is a better weekend if we don't have a mandatory work shift.

If we are hiking I'm good with either date. If we are goin to be on the water I prefer the May date.

After missing last years float and seeing the pictures that looked like a blast. Since my Sea Eagle does best in warmer weather I leaning more to May.

What help do you need getting this up and going? I'm not far away and like to ramble. Love driving my Mustang down Hwy 100 and 622, all I need is the slightest excuse.

all of those dates look good for us. A lot depends on what happens on March 22 as to whether we can go or not
