    New Guy in Arizona

Hi there everyone. I can't remember if I found these forums first or my first hammock first, but either way, I've been having fun figuring out this hanging business.

I've only been on two trips so far with my hammocks, so I'm still learning.

I have two hammocks, got a Grand Trunk double and one from REI that I cannot remember the name of. Tried the whole "get the girlfriend to go with" and as everyone says on the forums, it's tough to do two to a hammock (good thing I brought two hammocks) - I only made it half way through the night before I was numb from her laying on top of my arm and leg (she was perfectly comfortable, sound asleep of course).

Still trying to learn and try new things. I LOVE whoopie slings, and I'll post a trip report with a few pics from my most recent outing. Got the idea for the area from dejoha, off FSR 237 just south of Flagstaff, AZ. Can't wait to find out more tips and ideas for hanging. Gotta be happy with the girlfriend is into hanging with me, so we'll learn as we go and figure out what works best for us with lots of ideas from the forum!

Welcome from Las Vegas. I look forward to seeing the pics from your Flagstaff trip. I went out to there for a training certification and loved it there. Thinking about taking another trip out there to hang.

Sweet! Another hanger from Arizona! As I write this, I'm hanging in my hammock at 11,300 feet on the Humphreys trail with another hanger, Kurt. We're doing the circuit: Schultz to the kachina trail and up Humphreys. Tomorrow we will summit and then down the weather ford trail to Schultz.

I don't think I've pitched a hammock on such a steep slope before.

When you're next in flagstaff, look me up!

Welcome, Bnos Wood, from a newbie hanger in the White Mountains of Arizona. Glad to see another Arizonan come aboard.
You can be wet and miserable, or you can choose to just be wet.

Welcome to you Arizonians. I know it's hot there too, but at least you can drive a couple hours and get out of it.
We are now ready to start our way down the Great Unknown. We are three quarters of a mile in the depth of the earth. We have an unknown distance yet to run, an unknow river yet to explore. What falls there are, we know not; what rocks beset the channel, we know not; what walls rise over the river, we know not. Ah, well! We may conjecture many things. The men talk as cheerfully as ever; jests are bandied about freely this morning; but to me the cheer is somber and the jests are ghastly. Powell 1869
