Sorry Sidewinder. Our plans also fell through this weekend at the last moment. I feel bad for not posting in advance, but since the whole hang fell apart (again) I feel slightly better not being the only one. I hope we can get our..... stuff together for the next one, although August is very full for me. Advance notice will aply.

It's all good. I usually (99%) of the time am alone in the woods. I was really looking forward to meeting some of you. I will post some pics as soon as I get them off my phone and do a trip report. Maybe another time we can get it together. August is not looking good for me. September looks more open.
I am thinking of putting together a Winter hang some time in February for those interested. Figured if I mention it now, folks will have some time to prepare. Anyone interested?

I've been tempted, several times, to just throw out the wheres and whens, just in good faith. I'm leaning heavily toward a Big Sur Ventana Camp trip in the near future. Anybody be down for a Big Sur trip?

I'd be down for winter and Big Sur. I, like Sidewinder, am usually alone. My mid August plans are flexible. I'm outta school for two weeks, From the 10th to the 27th. I'd really, really, really like to do the Lost Coast Trail. It's pretty remote, so a hiking partner would be safer. Those redwoods just do something to me. But, again, I'm flexible.
Should we start a running NorCal thread? That way, Bill or anyone can "just throw out the wheres and whens" and see what happens. Whatcha y'all think?
I interested in doing something in August. Fri-Sun or Sat-Sun is good for me.
Cool. If we do a weekend, we should keep the driving time low. I was checking out some of the wilderness areas in Mendocino Nat Forest. It's about 2 hours to Stonyford, CA from Davis. That would be an easy "after work on Friday" sorta thing. I started looking at some cool trails. Deafy Gap trail and Summit Springs look sweet. No decisions, yet.
Depending on the heat, I'll probably come up with a Sierra alternative.

Been to Deafy a few months ago. Nice weather and we went there last summer. Won't do that again. It was too hot! We took the Bathhouse trail both times.

I'll throw out plan B. Lake Spaulding to Beyers Lake. It's just the other side of where Sidewinder went. If we make it up there on Friday night, it's an easy hike to many campsites along the lake and adjoining stream. Sat. to Beyers Lakes and Sunday out.
