    Post Greetings from South Mississippi

Recently introduced to the concept of hammock camping and hammock forums by Bigbogg while at Scout camp last week. The more I learn about it the more I love the idea. Being a big guy, sleeping on the ground just doesn't work for me.

I'm looking to make my own hammock and researching ripstop nylon I'm finding basically two options (1) 30 Denier Double Silicone Coated Ripstop and (2) 70 Denier Nylon Ripstop Fabric. Any thought on which to use? Any suggested vendors/suppliers to by ripstop from?

Looking forward to my first hammock camp out and contributing to this forum.

Hello and Welcome to the Forums from Canada!

I would probably stay away from the silicone since it will not allow you to breath (skin wise) and end up making you feel damp if not down right wet.

I tend to shop at DIYgearsupply.com and at wildernesslogics.com. Both Scott and Marty are members here and have fantastic service.

Welcome from central MS. I made a woodland camo 1.9 hammock (11.5' x 60") and love it. Got fabric from Seattle Fabrics.
