Actually, it can be a triple purpose.

1. It serves as the safety bead".
2. It can be tied to the toggle.
3. It will cinch the whoopie sling over the Marlin Spike Hitch for better security.

I attached my toggle with a locked brummel and then buried it and it decreased the chance of the toggle tangling up.
