    safety bead alternative for whoopie?

Well I just made my first adjustable SRL whoopie sling after for hanging the past 3 days (complete noob/what-not). Just wondering if there is any alternative I can ADD to an already together whoopie sling in place of the safety bead they seem to add at whoopieslings.com I don't have any beads and I already have 3 assembled whoopie slings. I could easily tie off a little knot with almost anything, but this rig is so... elegant... it seems like there must be a cooler/slicker/simple solution. Besides of course just NOT pulling the loop through itself.

Small keychain split rings work and are easy enough to put on a completed whoopie sling. Just be careful that you don't catch any thread when putting them on.

You can also splice a small inch to inch and a half segment of amsteel just above where the adjustable portion enters the bury. It makes that portion thick enough to prevent the loop from being pulled into itself.

Lots of threads about different things to use.

I bury a ~2" piece of amsteel next to the bury entrance in the adjustable loop...http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...8&postcount=32

GrizzlyAdams uses an end whipping knot that serves a dual purpose: first, it secures the loop to the toggle so it doesn't slip off the knot. Second, it keeps the loop from pulling back into itself. Here is a link to a video he made that shows you how to tie it (the part you're after starts at around 3:30):

    Hope this helps

Yep, cable ties are a good alternative. Just be sure to leave it slightly loose on the line.

I would think tight but make sure it is on the standing part not the part that slides through. Put it about 1/4-1/2 in up from where the moving part enters.
