No hammocking for me for a while!!!!! :(

Hey fellas, I have some really bad news. I was hurt at work and have an injured knee. I am being told I need reconstructive ACL surgery . So my backpacking is being put on the back burner prolly for the summer very sad being that I just got my hammock and finished building my pack. And was about to buy a UQ/TQ combo to replace my USGI MSS. Hope this goes fast I really want to go on a overnight kayak river trip. Thought I would inform ya'll of whats goin on I will keep updating you. Simpathy and stories are welcomed haha

Now, now. You can't backpack, but you can certainly still utilize that gear a little.

Sucks dude... I wish you fast healing and a painless recovery... When i had my shoulder done a few years ago the hardest part was the, physical therapy, I'm glad she was cute because otherwise I would have hated her...

I've got an appointment with my orthopedic guy this coming Monday for my knee, so I feel ya. Happily, recovery time for knee surgery is a whole lot shorter than it was for my first, second, and third knee surgeries back in the day.
    Trust nobody!

I hope you have a speedy recovery. It's always bad when you are kept from doing the things you love by injuries.

My son and I both feel your pain and hear your disappointment. Take your time to recover and try to do some car camping with your gear instead.

You'll be back on the trail for sure....in time. Get a good ACL brace and use it. My wife had her ACL replaced at age 45....she still grooves.
Best to you and that knee.

Diva has some good advice, or you could make a turtlelady/dog stand and camp in your house. Just a thought. Good luck with a speedy recovery!

Gee, what a bummer. I have a few suggestions, yours to take or leave.

Keep ice on your knee, keep it elevated. If you opt for surgical repair, be sure you get the nifty machine that recirculates water this can be either Ice Water or Heated Water. My machine has a thermastat to keep the water cold, cool, warm---to hot. I can control the amount of compression from the wrap that holds the water next to whatever ouch I am treating. I really love my little machine, it does wonders for pain.

My ACL repair lasted 52 weeks. I was skating and fell did it again, I sure did. I am sitting here typing with my cold machine doing its job.

You should be able to hang around while the knee heals. All is not lost, just follow instructions, do your physiotherapy, you should heal just fine, unless of course you are one of us GrayHeads, then I do not know what to pitch to you as support LOL.
