I was already using my hammock during outings, just not for camping. Between Dejoha's book and Shug's videos I came to realize the full potential of my hammock.

I was researching the superior hiking trail when I discovered Shug, at first I thought he was a kook. It didn’t take long to realize he is very smart and amazingly talented. Because of Shug, my WBBB is being shipped as I write this.

Shug has gotten me to more embrace the cold, want the cold, want colder! And if I could meet two hangers I haven't met in the group hangs I've attended it would be Shug and P.Hammock
Speaking of Shug....anybody got a full size shot of Shug, hi-rez. I'm working on a video and need a pic of Shugmeister.

Yup. Shug taught me about the cold. Going through the threads here, I have to give him as well as others credit for me wanting to obtain a Warbonnet Blackbird hammock! The vid was him walking along the fence flapping his arms like you guessed it a blackbird!

Count me in. I stumbled upon one of Shug's vids while searching for backpacking vids and I was hooked immediately. After just a few vids, I signed up here and the rest is history.
With beauty all around you, may you walk.

I found Shug's stuff while researching lightweight backpacking. I now even watch Shug reruns to get a chuckle. He introduced me to HF and I love this site. To tell you the truth I really only watch Shug because Karl and also The Hickory Brothers show up every once in a while. MMMMMMM 8)

p.s. Thank's for all the fun info! You Rock!!

As I recall. I came in through Just Jeff, too. I was looking for some lightweight alternative to the tent I had. After reading Jeff's site and then Sgt Rock, I went to Shug's stuff and HF.

Ditto lol, I have left the "sheeple" and false sense of reality in pursuit of the Piney Woods! (not totally, still kept my job to help pay for all the cool hammock stuff.) I actually was looking at survival videos and wondered if there was a better way to sleep in the woods than a air mattress when I came across Shug's videos and haven't been the same since. Now my wife and kids are coming with me next week to the Smokies for a 3 day trip!

    BIG THANKS TO YOU SHUG!

Discovered Just Jeff and Shug while researching for my 2013 AT thru-hike. One video of Shug setting up his rig and I was transfixed. "You mean I don't have to sleep on the ground? Seriously?" I thought.

Shug is to hammock hanging as Alton Brown is to FoodTV. Great teacher with a personality that keeps it real and interesting. No BS or elitist attitude, just HYOH and genuine facts about what works for him.

    And he can cook.

    Keep it coming.
