Anybody ever hang at Federal camp ground Buck Hall near Awendaw, McClellanville, Mount Pleasant, SC?
I'm going to ask them if they allow hammocks, but thought I would ask here first.

Yes at Buck Hall. I didn't ask. Just strung up the hammock. Other places too in the Francis Marion. It's a national forest and not a state park as I udnerstood it. Now the other places in the the FM I stealthed, but at Buck Hall its was in the open.
It is a Federal camp ground.
It is on the Intracoastal, but it is car camping.
I am going with a buddy and a huge tent.
I may just hang and have the tent as a back up.
Been thinking about camping there as well. Take lots of pics and let us know what you find. Hey don't forget about the 2012 fall sprawl in September @ santee state park. Shameless plug sorry but had too ;p
Life looks better from a BIAS hammock.
I have stayed at Buck Hall before but it was pre Hammock.
I will let you know their policy on hammocks when I find out.
In the meantime, I will give some general info.
Buck Hall Plantation is on Hwy 17 about 20 miles north of where Hwy 41 comes into Mount Pleasant.
It is a Federal Camp ground and is well kept.
There is a circular drive with water and electricity for about 30 RVs.
There are 5 tent sites overlooking the Intracoastal.
It is pull up car camping.
You reserve the sites on line and they fill up quickly.
I am going in October 2012 and just reserved the next to last one.
There is a parking lot for parking your boat overnight.
There is a nice three lane ramp for putting in.
Buck Hall basically lines up with the southern tip of Bulls Bay.
There is a 3-4 mile trail that runs south from Buck Hall to a small kayak launch site.
Its good for introducing kids to camping and its good for boating/fishing.
There are often shrimpers fisherman etc camping there.
if its federal you should be fine with hammocks, as the general rules usually trump individual park rules.
