Whats your favorite length and width?

Ok Im 6'1" 230# wide shoulders. Ive had a DN for a year now and have made up my mind that I need a longer hammock So with that I just ordered one of the crinkle taffeta tableclothes 90"x156" and was wondering what size to cut it down to. I know that I dont want it to be shorter than 11' but not sure on the width, I like the width on my DN. So whats your fav. length and width? Im up for any ideas.

My DIY is 126" in length and I am quite happy with that. here is a suggestion for you. Whip the ends without sewing an end channel. One end do at the end like you would normally, then whip it at 132" (11 feet) and see how you like it. Think you might like it a little longer, unwhip it and whip it again a little futher down. When you find your length that you are the most comfortable with, sew your end channels. I would also suggest considering an adjustable ridge line so you can adjust the ridge line along with the length of the hammock. Kill two birds with one stone. The link below will take you to the video that will show you how. Good luck.

In addition to this good advice, you can also fold an edge under prior to whipping to try different widths before you do anything permanent.

My personal preference varies with intended use. 10'-6" to 11-6" with a width from 54"-65". I'm undecided on if I have a use for the 90" widths...I may find them more useful in the cold.

At 6'-1" and 200# this side sleeper likes 11' long by 54" wide.

I'm 6'2", and I've found that I'm partial to a 120"x60" or 126"x60" hammock. Most people like them longer, but this suits me just fine. Currently, I'm sleeping in a 126"x60" crinkle taffeta tablecloth.
It's bad luck to be superstitious.

That sounds like a great size to start off with. Please keep us informed.

I'm finding that a ratio between 2.2 to 2.3:1 is about right for a hammock.
