FWIW - Two Isles is doing the AT with a hammock this year:

this couple did it last year and did a lot of their own gear and hammocks:

There is a lot of information between the lines in these journals.

    Just a welcome aboard.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Thanks everyone for all of the feedback! I am definitely going to look into attending a group hang (I truly have no doubt in my mind that hangers really are very kind, so I am excited). The links to videos, blogs, and books are all officially on my reading/watching to-do list. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated on what I decide!

One of the biggest things to remember is be cautious of those giant bugs that hang around people like Fronkey, like the one in his video
I am me and no one else can be me without my permission.

Here's a link to someone hiking the AT right now, using a Nano 7 (Yes, he is a HF member).

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn." — John Muir

    Welcome aboard!

I can not stress Shug's videos enough. They're very informative and he does a great job of giving you a lot of information, without overloading you. He makes learning fun, and doesn't press any of his own agenda on anyone. Great way to learn.
The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.
