Thought I would throw it out there...the park that we have our seasonal trailer at has a decent sized bush set aside for tenters. The park is located on a smallish Bass Lake and only 15 minutes from Kincardine.
We were planning an August hang and it got confusing, a couple of people took on the booking but in the end were unable to continue with the trip and then I wasnt sure who was in, if anyone. I ended the thread with a post saying to follow this thread for a hang as I am a poor organizer.

I pick hiking as it is the lowest common denominator for most people. Not everyone has a canoe or wants to spend the money to rent one for a weekend.

I would prefer a hike unless I can jump in on someones canoe

Good d$#n question Brian! Been asking myself that same question everyday now! Starting to really get the ol' stir crazy happening. If there were any chance, the later in the summer the better (last weekend of August and first of Sept would be no good though).

Me and a couple of buddies are roughing it in ganaraska 2nd weekend of August. I'll scout out any good spots for a group hang... There's about 20 parking spots that are monitored pretty well- so if they've got the hang spots it may be a good spot for a big group.

That sounds like a good plan, surreal_trip. Obviously the main items for a group hang would be decent parking, lots of hanging spots and close proximity to a good water source. Would this area of Ganaraska be considered crown land camping?

    Cheers

Just so. My inexperience aside, it would seem to be an excellent area. Fairly close, good parking and a fair chunk away from other campers. Being crown land theirs no fees but you need good support as trouble out that way isn't going to see much outside help.

you guys should check out a tool called http://www.doodle.com - you put in the potential dates for an event (even times- which wouldn't apply to hangs, really) and everyone 'votes' by putting in yes/maybe/no for each of the dates. Then you pick the one which is good for all/most people. (similar: whenisgood.net)

Or: say: "I'll be at X location on X date, come join if you can!" Everyone self caters. Once you've done it that way for a few times, you might feel up to the level of organizing that takes place for some hangs!
