    Very hot!!!

Really hot summer nights! Humid, too! Last night (4th of July) there were lots of fireworks and parties, etc. Not quiet. Not peaceful. I felt like my snoring would disturb their festivities. So, I came in (slinking, actually) and slept in a real bed with my wife.

Made me feel like a quitter.

It's a little crazy. The temps will be in the 90's (80's overnite) with humidity in the upper 80/lower 90 range. But even though it's sauna-type environments, I like it.

The noise and the the firework flashes ran me off, though.

Makes me feel like a sissy.

I'll post some pics of my set up on the dock when I figger out where to best post 'em on this board.

But even after all of my griping, it's still pretty great. Better than most people have it, I expect.

    Awesome first post

Your experience and excitement mirror my feelings. I wish I could have discovered hammock camping in my teens or twenties. Hanging is making me rethink my whole approach to outdoor adventuring. In hiking, bicycling, climbing, and sailing I see brand new ways of solving the comfort problem. No more sleeping in compromise bunks, it will be hammock comfort all the time.

Glad to see I'm not the only newly minted hanger crazy enough to hang outside in the Texas summer heat. I would say I don't have your humidity but we have started monsooning. Having to learn how to stay dry under a tarp....
    Superfly tarp on order....

    A few pics..

But the temps at night are in the high 70's with humidity in the 90's...and winds around 3 mph.

    A little sticky.

    But it's lots of fun!

This a view of the canal from the hammock. Actually, this pic is a LOT brighter than actual. But the green lights are a definite plus. Redfish and trout are popping the water all night long...
