This is _sort of_ how I use my Stingers. I'll have an illustration short coming. Like Dutch mentioned, I tie or splice my line in the "eye" in front of the "stinger." I clip the Stinger directly to the tie-out on the tarp.
My preferred line is inexpensive braided mason line. Fits great. Lasts forever.

Good idea about threading and then splicing. That would solve the problem. I was using the Zing-It that came with the Tarp Flyz so I had not thought of doing my own splicing at that point. More knowledge keeps flowing here.
On the thought of making them slightly larger, a slightly larger unit would make the biner end easier to use on the tie-outs. It is tight but workable. Would also allow the eye to be a little larger.
